January 21- Progress Report

Hi all! I hope your holidays were fantastic, and that you are settled into the new year. here is a quick and dirty progress report.

EDITING

The book is almost fully edited for format. We are down to the last 30 or so pages of text left to be edited and the photographs. Photographs are tricky and jleWings and I are working to figure out the best way to do it. Its a ton of trial and error.

IP LICENSING

I have approval on the use/license of certain NHL intellectual property.


HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER

While the NHL is fully on board with our project, We encountered a bit of a setback with respect to affiliating ourselves with Hockey Fights Cancer. As a result, we will be changing the title of the Book. As it stands, we will still contribute all net proceeds to Hockey Fights Cancer. In the event they cannot accept our contributions, we will - as a group figure out what Hockey related charity to donate to.

TITLE OF BOOK

We need you to vote on the title for the book. Please check your Connect email for the link to the poll. despite my Connect message, I did not post the poll here, because I did not want random people to be able to vote on the matter. If you need the link to the Poll, send me a Connect message.

COVER ART

I know many of you got a preview of the gorgeous work Nihn has been doing for us last month- Hooray for Nihn!!!!! Once we determine a final Book Title, we will ask him to create one more proto-type. Thanks for your hard work and being patience Nihn.

Progress Report 12/10/08

Hi all, here is your update on the book. Your Fabulous CFC Executive Team: jleWings, Motleysu, TealGirl730,Cassie, and Kate the Great- (oh and me) have been HARD at work editing all the chapters for format. Let me just say that when we started this project I had the honor of going through all your blogs to find the best of the best, (yes I read every last one of each of your blogs, INCLUDING all of 22's) and as I read through them again now, I am tremendously excited about how this book is gonna turn out. We have funny, insightful, hard hitting, touching and just plain fun stuff- its a fantastic mix. for every longwinded Juice Blog, we have a funny Strawman or Ninh Blog. Just when Motleysu gets us all choked up we have levity from ECParke. Its gonna be great ! So here is the report:

Received a gorgeous prototype from Ninh, and will share that with you all very soon.

Licensing:

I am still working with the NHL. Will be sending the NHL a list of the specific items we want licensed this week, just to give them an idea of what we need.

So that is the project update. Because we elected to work with the NHL and things have slowed a bit there, it looks like the book won't be published before the holidays this year. Lesson learned. Wish we would have thought of this before November. Next year we will start the process in October (so get all your GOOD blogs into Connect before then ...)

Tentative Outline- 11/11/08

Ok all, here is the latest version of the book outline. I have compiled all of the blogs in Section 1, and they make up about 200 pages. I think the topics need some polishing in section 2, so send me your thoughts. Some of you are sending me edited blogs- great, by the end of the week would be stellar.

Everyone, please let me know by Friday 11/14 if I missed something you asked for, still need to subsititute/add/change any blogs, and Please let me know if you’d prefer that your blogs be set forth different order.
